Reasons to Own Multiple Firearms

Why own more than just one gun? There are several reasons why one should own multiple firearms. Guns have been a part of our lives for decades now. Most gun owners in America own multiple guns for self-defense and hunting purposes. In this article, we will dive into a few examples on why you should as well!

This is an article in response to a previous post made here, on the guns everyone needs to own. This post we’ll dive more into the why of the question.

Different Purposes

There are guns for every purpose. The same goes for caliber. What caliber bullet that is a good deterrent for varmint, might not be the best option for a home invader. That is why as a gun owner, there are several platforms and calibers that every gun owner should be familiarized with.

The Honest Outlaw is one of my favorite gun influencers on YouTube. He details multiple firearms here. There are guns that are just built for different purposes. A .22 may be great for punishing coyotes and fox, but not the best home defense option. Shotguns are very versatile, but it’s totally different from the AR-15 platform.

The Candy Store Dilemma

Once you get into guns, you generally can’t have but just one. There’s so many platforms and models to try. Revolvers, 1911s, AR-15s, AK-47s, shotguns, etc.

I personally thought that I wouldn’t want to own more than one when I first bought one, but their are so many models calling my name.

Built for Particular Needs

Farm and Flannel believes that everyone needs to own particular guns; however, there are guns that are built for different needs.

Not every gun is designed to be for home defense or hunting. Some are historical pieces that are owned for sport. Mausers, Mosin Nagants, the SKS model, the M1 Garand, and older Remington firearms are such examples.

Possible World Disaster

In the event of the a world disaster, knowledge of multiple firearms is a desirable skill. Guns like: Beretta M9s, 9mm Glocks, AR-15s, Mossberg 500/Remington 870s, AKs, and lever actions are such examples of end-of-the-world firearms. Some of these are also good to know if you ever want to get a job overseas.

Self-Defense

Who says you just need one gun to defend yourself? What scenario are you in where a shotgun wouldn’t be the end-all weapon of choice? That’s why many people own a shotgun, long gun (such as an AR-15 or AK-47), and a pistol of some kind to deal with different threats.

Personally, everyone should own different firearms as they see fit. Maybe AR’s aren’t your thing and you prefer a shotgun. Doesn’t mean you have to end it there.

Next time you hear some one say that they own several firearms, before you think of them as some nut, remember that there are several reasons to own multiple firearms.
