Have you been carrying the same concealed carry gun for a while now? Thinking of switching it out? Maybe it’s a different season and you think you need a different size of firearm. Whatever the reason, there are questions to be pondered about switching out carry guns or just sticking to one.
Seasonal
Some people switch out their everyday carry during the seasons. Opting for a smaller gun in the warmer months and a larger framed gun in the colder ones. This is partly due to the ability to wear more clothing in the winter, which in turn, adds the options to conceal better.
For instance, some people carry a compact 9mm in the summer and a full sized 9 or 45 in the winter. Or a subcompact in the warmer climate and a compact in the colder climate.
Comfort
Comfortability is another key factor. When choosing a concealed carry firearm, making sure it isn’t uncomfortable is always going to be tricky. Carrying a gun isn’t comfortable. It isn’t a natural feeling. However, you can combat this feeling by selecting the right carry gun for you.
Subcompact to compact firearms are best depending on your frame. J-frame revolvers are a great choice due to their small frame, making them a perfect choice for any body type. Revolvers like these provide a large enough caliber to do the job, but often lack in capacity.
Environmental Changes
At times, our environment changes. What is best for everyday carry during your normal routine isn’t always the best idea when you’re at an event that constricts concealment, like a wedding. Maybe the clothing that day doesn’t provide as much concealment as other days, and you need to carry something smaller than normal. Thus, having an alternate CCW (concealed carry weapon) is a very important choice for concealed carriers.
